With five steps your Windows will be 100% genuine so you’ll be able to get the advantages of having genuine Microsoft software.
1 – Run regedit.exe (start, run…) and find this in windows registry: HKey_Local_Machine-Software-Microsoft-WindowsNT-Current Version-WPAEvents. Now right-click on “oobtimer” and click modify, change at least one digit of the value, choose OK and close regedit
2 – Go to Start/Run and type “%systemroot%system32oobemsoobe.exe /a” without the quotation marks, it will appear an activation window, choose the 2nd option “activate by phone”.*
3 – In the next window choose the option to change the product key and type the new key**. If it goes back to the previous window, choose “remind me later” and reboot your pc, if it doesn’t, follow the 4th step.

Then go to Start/Run and type “%systemroot%system32oobemsoobe.exe /a” without the quotation marks, again. You should receive the message “Windows is already activated” or something like that.
5 – If something goes wrong and you can’t boot Windows, just press F8 while the pc is booting until you get some options, choose “Last Known Good Configuration”. You’ll be just like you were before doing all this, and you can try it again.
* If your Windows Xp is an “UE” version, you won’t be able to get to the activation window, so you’ll have to use google to find and download the “oobe” folder. When you do that, place the folder on “windows/system32″ folder and start the process.
